You know what would be great? If American department stores had a bento goods section. Every Japanese department store has one, and bento goods can be found cheaply at any 100-yen store. But no, we're reduced to Ichibankan online and eBay.
My favorite store in Japan, LoFT, has aisles of bento goods:
And that's just the Miffy character bento stuff above!
These photos are just a third of each aisle, and there were 2 or 3 aisles.
The funniest thing that I saw during my last visit back home was the banana holder.

This is my dream store!
DROOOOL!
I NEED one of those banana holders. Really... I stopped packing bananas for LN because they got bruised in her lunch bag by the time we got to school.
I don't even bento yet and I'm in love with that store!
i gotta get me some of those banana holder-thingies . . . bananas are so yummy but they bruise so easily. =(
For everyone who wants a banana holder:

They have inexpensive ones at certain Daiso stores if you have one near you.
The store is great -- it's like a design-y cool Target.
